Sound can clear energetic blockages in the mind and body.
Sound reminds us to listen to our HEART and SOUL versus mind and ego.
Sound has an advantage over other forms of communication because it is not open to interpretations or distortions created by the mind. Basically, sounds can bypass our egoic mind and head straight to our heart and soul! Energetic centers can become entrained to rhythms, which create massive shifts in the way we think, feel, and interpret our world. Old memories, emotions, and events may be brought to light. This can come in the form of a deep sense of peace, laughter, crying, anger, etc. Whatever comes up is exactly what is right for you, there is no need to question your experience. We may not feel anything until hours or days after energy work, however, shifts are occurring whether we are consciously aware of them or not.
I experienced the powerful effects of sound healing during my first ayahuasca retreat. The shaman played a song on his guitar and suddenly, my hands started slapping the floor in rhythm to the beat. I felt temporarily free, a foreign concept to after living with chronic pain and depression for over a decade. I have no logical explanation for what happened, however, my body intuitively knew the rhythm of the shaman's song right after the first few notes rang out. I felt a huge current of energy running through me and knew this was my body's way of entraining to the shaman's healing musical vibrations.
I knew something had unlocked inside of me, a hidden gift to share with the world. Using sound to communicate is my simple yet authentic way to express my love for the souls around me. Days later, I bought my first African djembe, a set of 8 crystal singing bowls, a Peruvian chakapa and maraca, and dove headfirst into using sound to help myself and others.
Now, I often use sound as a healthy distraction from chronic pain and depression. Living with unrelenting physical pain and an incurable mental illness is frustrating and disempowering, however, I am using alternative modalities to ease the symptoms.
I am focused on finding my tribe to continue growing, healing, and authentically expressing myself. If my story resonates with you, please connect with me at an upcoming event.
